True story, the studio of Eric Wagner, elevates brands through meaningful, meticulously crafted graphic design. We articulate our clients’ values, character, and aspirations with strategic work that resonates both emotionally and logically. Our core principle is that the most effective branding results from a process of revelation, not decoration, and each project offers an opportunity to illuminate what makes a client unique and beautiful.

Background

Eric Wagner’s graphic design education formally started at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Prior to that, he was copying Old English characters from drafting manuals, silkscreening Night Ranger mirrors to sell to his classmates, and composing book reports using press type that his father would bring home from work.

During the formative years of interaction design, Eric worked at the Chicago studio Tanagram with a team of talented, driven designers eager to learn, experiment, and realize ideas that blew their minds. Shaped by this ethic, Eric launched his studio True story.

After 25 years of designing professionally, Eric has a renewed appreciation for creative playtime and the value of the new. Through constant discovery, Eric aims to create value and improve the world for others.
